3rd Grade

Eldorado PK-8's 3rd grade program fosters learning communities that encourage collaboration and strengthen academic skills. Our classrooms build on earlier foundations by giving students more time to work independently while teachers provide just-right support. Instruction shifts from learning to read toward reading to learn, helping students use texts to discover new ideas across subjects. In science and social studies, learners take on longer, choice-driven projects that let them dive deeply into topics and show what they know. Third graders study city government: they learn how local leaders work, run for or vote for student city council members, and hold a mock election to practice civic participation. Hands-on experiences bring learning to life — students raise crawfish to observe their life cycle and investigate fossils to explore Earth’s past.
