6th Grade

Eldorado PK–8’s 6th grade makes the transition to middle school welcoming and exciting, combining hands-on learning, academic challenge, and a close-knit school community where every student is known and supported. Our team teaching model allows teachers to truly get to know each student—their strengths, challenges, and learning style—so we can provide help when needed, offer small-group support or reteaching, and also challenge students who are ready to move ahead or explore advanced learning opportunities.
Academics
Math: Students strengthen number sense, operations, fractions, ratios, and early algebraic thinking. Instruction includes small-group rotations, technology-based practice, and real-world problem-solving to build confidence and mastery.
ELA: Students engage in close reading, evidence-based discussions, and write across informative, narrative, and argumentative genres. Independent reading and teacher conferences promote growth in fluency, comprehension, and voice.
Science: Students follow a rigorous physical science pathway, exploring real-world phenomena to learn about physics, chemistry, magnetism, and light through interactive labs and cooperative learning experiences that provide a framework for critical thinking and problem-solving.
Social Studies: Students study the Western Hemisphere—its geography, history, and cultures—using document analysis, discourse, map skills, and critical thinking to understand global perspectives.
