1. We expect every student to participate fully and safely to the best of their abilities.
Why? Because "Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together" ~ James Cash Penney
- Growth is a combination of teacher guidance, healthy challenges, and student dedication
- We aim for our students to be better people by the end of our time with them
- Use time productively in class
2. We expect students to take responsibility.
Why? "You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself." ~ Jim Rohn
- We work with students to help them recognize their feelings, thoughts, and actions.
- We want students to be confident in advocating for themselves in a healthy way without making excuses.
- Remember, the goal is to grow!
- Self-advocate for needs
- (Watch the video below!)
3. We expect students to treat others with respect.
Why? "Respect for ourselves guides our morals; respect for others guides our manners." ~ Laurence Sterne
And because this was a good one as well: "Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked to. Respect is earned, not given." ~Hussein Nashah
- Students and staff will be inclusive to all
- Build positive relationships with fellow students and staff
- Take responsibility for actions (see above)
- Implement and follow classroom and school rules
- Care for school and peer’s property
4. We expect students maintain a positive attitude.
Why? "You can't always have a good day, but you can always face a bad day with a good attitude." ~Unknown
- Have a growth mindset and persevere through challenges
- Attitude affects others both positively and negatively
- Fun is what you make of it--attitude is everything!
5. MIDDLE SCHOOL PE ONLY: We expect students to dress out in their Eldorado PE uniform for each day they have Physical Education class.
Why? "Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live!" ~Jim Rohn
- Middle schoolers are at the inevitable age of change. Bodies, hormones, and smells.
- We require the uniform to help preserve good hygiene practices.
- When a person joins the workforce, they will be asked to wear a "uniform" of some sort. It never hurts to start practicing in school to be disciplined and respectful before it's required for an income! We don't always like what we have to wear, but we do it anyway!
