Visual Arts

Eldorado PK-8’s Art program offers rich, developmentally appropriate experiences that invite creativity and visual exploration from kindergarten through middle school. Across all grades, art instruction connects to classroom learning, cultural traditions, and real‑world practices. Students present work, reflect on choices, and learn to give and receive constructive feedback. Eldorado’s art program emphasizes creativity, craftsmanship, and confidence — helping students express ideas visually and appreciate the work of others.

Grade Level Art Development

In elementary classes, a comprehensive Art class introduces basic elements and principles of art — color, line, shape, texture, and composition — while students experiment with many media: drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, and simple sculpture. These hands‑on lessons build observational skills, imagination, and confidence with materials.

In middle school, art offerings become more specialized so students can deepen skills and pursue personal interests. Courses such as Ceramics, Draw & Paint, General Art, and Stage Craft focus on technique, process, and creative problem‑solving. Ceramics teaches hand building and glazing; Draw & Paint develops observational drawing and color theory; Stage Craft explores set design, prop making, and visual storytelling for performances.
